Wallace Hart Gives Back: Our 1% Pledge

By Jeremy Wallace and Andrew Hart

At Wallace Hart Capital Management, one of our biggest passions is giving back to the organizations that make a difference in our world. Every year, as part of the Pledge 1% program, we donate 1% of our profits to a group of well-deserving nonprofit organizations. That means that by working with us, you are also helping countless others.

Our 2020 Pledge Recipients

This year, we have chosen four different groups to benefit from our gift:

Mike Rowe Works Foundation

If you are a Dirty Jobs fan, you might remember Mike Rowe, who made it his mission to highlight the necessity and dedication of skilled workers who keep our country running. Mike’s passion is reminding Americans how important hard work is and the value offered to us by those who do it. His foundation sets out to remove the stigma behind skilled work and encourage people to pursue a career in industries such as plumbing, pipefitting, bricklaying, etc., by providing the Work Ethic Scholarship Program.

University Of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center On Aging

We, or those we love, will all face the challenges of aging at some point in our lives. That’s why we’re thankful for the work of The University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging (SBCoA). Their scientists are doing their part to drive the research forward, increasing understanding of the aging process and age-related brain diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.

The Lexington Dream Factory

It’s always heartbreaking to see a child suffer, but The Lexington Dream Factory does its best to bring joy to an otherwise difficult situation. Simply put, they make dreams come true for kids who have critical or severe chronic illnesses. That includes everything from trips to Disney World (a popular choice for this age group), shopping sprees, and backstage passes to concerts. We consider it a privilege to support such a noble cause.

Carnegie Center For Literacy And Learning

Last, but most certainly not least, is the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning. Literacy changes the world, and we applaud the work of this organization as they strive to provide free, low-cost, or scholarship-covered classes for all ages to improve their lives through literacy and education. Whether it’s tutoring, author readings, or writing classes, the Carnegie Center is making Lexington a better place.
