Why I Became A Financial Advisor

By Andrew Hart

Here’s the tricky thing about money: you can work hard to earn it, but it’s how you handle it that makes all the difference. After getting my feet wet in the financial world, I saw too many people underutilize their money and value and therefore not make the most of it. I became a financial advisor so I could help others see what’s possible and help them get there.

First Steps

My journey to becoming a personal financial advisor started with earning my Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Wittenberg University. Not long after graduation, I started working in the banking industry as a loan representative. My passion for helping clients with the whole of their financial life instead of just selling products led me to obtain a certificate in financial planning from Georgetown University and earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. This is when the fun really started. I spent a handful of years in various roles, such as analyst and portfolio manager, for a variety of major companies, namely UBS Financial Services, Headley Investment Analysis, and the World Bank Credit Union.

Just like my business partner, Jeremy Wallace, I wanted to do more than just manage money and analyze historical data. I wanted to serve my clients better by providing innovative solutions to market trends and help them create a comprehensive plan for their money. Thus, in 2017, Wallace Hart Capital Management was born.

What I Do Now

Now I am the co-founder and chief planning strategist at Wallace Hart, working with families and university employees, making it my goal to give less worry and more time for what they love. I develop personal relationships with my clients to better understand what they want and need from their money so we can design a plan that makes their dreams a reality.

Challenges & Victories

While my joy may be perfect for me, that doesn’t mean it’s perfect every day. No matter how hard you try, you just can’t predict the unpredictable…and unpredictable is exactly what the market is! And because of the relationships I form with my clients, the hardest days for me are the ones when I counsel a client through life’s obstacles, such as death of a loved one, health issues, or family troubles. All that being said, it’s also rewarding to see those clients that have become like family reach their goals and walk out of my office with confidence in their future.

If I could sum up my motivation for what I do in one word, it would be growth. I wake up every day ready to tackle whatever comes my way all so I can see tangible growth for my clients, for my family, and for myself, both personally and professionally.
